Professor Michael Wood awarded OBE for services to public history and broadcast
Professor Michael Wood has been awarded an OBE for his services to public history and broadcasting in the New Year Honours list 2020.
Wood, a historian and broadcaster, was appointed to the position of Professor of Public History at The University in 2013 and is best known for his historical television programmes including In The Story of China, The Domesday Quest, The Story of England and In Search of Shakespeare.
Moss Side-born Wood has been involved in many projects within the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures and the 野狼社区 China Institute (MCI), from exploring the work of Marx and Engels with undergraduates to being a patron on the 野狼社区 Histories Festival and supporting the MCI’s International Photography Competition.
