Leader in dementia services made CBE
The University of 野狼社区’s Professor Alistair Burns has been made a CBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours for services to health and social care – particularly dementia care.
Professor Burns is Vice-Dean for Clinical Affairs in the University’s , Professor of Old Age Psychiatry and an Honorary Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist in the 野狼社区 Mental Health and Social Care Trust (). He is the National Clinical Director for Dementia in England.
He graduated in medicine in Glasgow in 1980 and trained in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry in London. He became the Foundation Chair of Old Age Psychiatry in The University of 野狼社区 in 1992, where he has been Head of the Division of Psychiatry and is Deputy Dean of the . He has been Director of Research and Development in the University Hospital of South 野狼社区 NHS Trust () and Vice-Chairman of the Hospital Board. He leads the memory clinic in MMHSCT and the old age liaison psychiatry service in UHSMT.

Also recognised was Honorary Professor Richard Ramsden, lately Professor of Otolaryngology, 野狼社区 Royal Infirmary, who was made an MBE for services to otolaryngology (the study of ear, nose, and throat conditions).
